Ohio Renaissance Festival - Labor Day

Monday, September 1st we spent our 18th anniversary, and Brad's birthday at the Ohio Renaissance Festival. We went with some friends who are not only into everything Medieval, but also very talented at the making of things, especially clothing, so we got to borrow some awesome stuff, and they actually researched the Frye family name and made Brad and Connor's tunics to go with the family's colors and crest, which apparently has a cool running horse.....talk about very cool! Our friend Alex went along as well, no, we did not just use her for her car! It was a really fun day, and I may add some more photos, but here are the ones we're starting with. If you get the chance to do a Ren Festival, you should....so much fun. Ok, so it WAS hot in the clothes......but we had a really good day in spite of the sweating.

This is the "Lady of the Lake" holding aloft "Excalibur"....part of the King Arthur legend.

Brad and I....way cooler outfits than we got married in

My boys at the pretty little open air chapel where the knighting ceremony was to take place

Connor being knighted by the Queen

Arise Sir Connor....Huzzah!

Sir Connor with his new helmet....supposedly indestructible....we'll test it well, I'm sure

Not a great photo, but the only one I got with my kiddos, so....sorry Laura, I'm leaving it

The Lady Alexandra and I with our knight....swooning over his knightly abilities

This is Sir William "our Knight" we rooted for in the joust. Connor is waiting to have him sign the piece of broken lance we bought. (the $ goes to help care for the horses, which were all rescues, and huge, beautiful war horses they were too!)

The two other Knights we traveled with....sitting in the hot, hot sun waiting for the joust to begin.

Sir William waving to his supporters

The Lady Alexandra and also newly knighted Dame Emily Rose...avoiding the hot, hot sun waiting for the joust to begin.....if you look carefully, you can see Hannah and Josh a couple of rows behind....I wish I'd gotten a better photo of Hannah in her new beautious dress.....*sigh* one can't think of everything it seems....especially in the hot, hot sun.
